How To Edit A Report
Help!! How do I edit??
Many pages on this site are editable. So if you spot an annoying type-o or want to add something extra to a report, it's just a click away.
You can edit anonymously or you can create an account and get credit for your work.
Basic Flow:
You click edit --> you edit text --> you preview/save it --> a moderator checks it --> it is published
We use a moderator system for quality control. The basic guidelines for content are: objectivity, clearly stated sources, and materiality (a complete list of editing rules can be found here).
Step 1 - Click the Edit Link!
To edit a section of a report, click on the [Edit] button near the section you'd like to improve (you might have to scroll up, some sections can be long).
Step 2 - Write!
Add your text. You can type in plain text (without any bold letters or other formatting), or you can style your test using the icons at the top of the editor window. These icons look like this:
If you hover your mouse over each icon you'll see a tip window pop up explaining each function.
To apply bold or italics, you'll need to select the text you'd like to format before you click the relevant button.
Adding links to a report is a great way to improve its usefulness for other users. It can be a little tricky at first, but after the first one or two, adding links is easy. Here's what you need to know:
- To add links to another page on the site, select the text you'd like to be the link (what people will click on) and then click this icon:
- This adds brackets '[' and ']' around your text. You're done! It's that easy.
- If you'd like to create a link that shows some text as "clickable" but go to another page, use try this: [[Pagename | 'Text to click on']].
- To add web links (to another website), the steps are pretty similar: type in the URL (the "http://www" address at the top of the web browser), highlight it, and then click this button:

Step 3 - Save
After you've added or edited some text, click "save" to save the page to the wiki. The moderator will check the content to make sure that it follows the Site Rules and approve your change, or (if you're logged in and used an email address) send you a message as to why the change was rejected.
Please use the "Preview" function before saving.
It's done!
